An electric scooter is usually a powered stand-by scooter with an internal power source such as an electric motor or, more recently, a small gasoline engine. Classified by the manufacturer as a kind of miniature mobility, these electric scooters typically have a large platform on which the user stands. Usually, they also have two wheels, although some have four wheels and other models can be wheeled only.

Electric Scooters: Why Are They Becoming Very Popular?

Electric scooters come in two varieties – the gas scooter and the battery-operated scooter. The gasoline-powered scooters run on gas while the battery-powered electric scooters work on electricity from rechargeable batteries. While the gasoline-powered scooters have a single-speed transmission, the battery-powered scooters have a multiple speed transmission, allowing the operator to change gears with the use of the throttle.

A major advantage of an electric scooter over a gasoline-powered one is that they do not have to be plugged in. In fact, they can even be left running while the gasoline-powered scooters can only be charged when needed. Another benefit is that, unlike a gasoline-powered scooter, there are no emissions that must be cleaned up. This makes the electric scooter an environmentally-friendly choice.
